Just a note, I was able to contact Dawud after Black Comic Book Day, due to the initiative taken by Turtel Onli and Jerry Craft, to create ‘the New Day in the Month of Black History”. I hope to interview Dawud on my radio show soon. I sincerely want to thank the men and women of the Movement for sharing all their resources with me.

I have been on the ‘edge’ of this Movement from its beginning. 2010 brought me up close and personal after attending my 1st Black Age of Comics Convention in Chicago. After that event I ‘Bogarted” my way into the celebration of Black Comic Book Day, showcasing some of the products of the Movement at ICE theater. Yet it was the news of the passing of Dwayne that truly moved me. Why, because so many people, readers, students, don’t and did not know him and his work, as well as the work of so many other talents people in his field. Onli prompted me to return to school and here at Chicago State University, I have reached out to many departments, particularly the African American Studies department, to add the study of the Black Age of Comics to its curriculum.
