Dr. Scot Brown is a professor of History and African American Studies at the University of California at Los Angeles. Hailing from Rochester, NY, he went on to earn doctoral and masters degrees in History and Africana Studies from Cornell University. Prior to joining the faculty at UCLA, Brown taught at the Université d’Haute Bretagne in France, San Francisco State University, University of Houston and Cornell University. Brown is the author of the pioneering book, Fighting For Us, a study of cultural nationalism and the Black Power movement during the 1960s. He is the author of many scholarly articles on popular culture and political movements. Dr. Brown has appeared in historical documentaries including the prize-winning– 41st and Central: The Untold Story of the L.A. Black Panthers– and most recently the TV ONE television series “Unsung,” with its episode on the R & B band known as “Heatwave.”

He explained it perfectly what George and his cronies were up to in the 70′s Black Music and art was far more creative and and forward thinking than it is in today’s hip- hop age with all their technology and business sense, they lack imagination to create something that will last the ages.
