There is a growing body of scholarship that critically engages comic books as an important domain within popular culture. Many of these scholars are fans and even contributors to the genre. Consequently, affixing such a limiting label like “academics” to these people is much more about organizing their links for you rather than framing their contributions in some objective sense (for more on this).
